I joined Hilti global IT as Head of Product Data Management mid of 2013, in this role I was responsible for the global IT systems used by our engineers and product managers for product design. I knew Hilti from my university times: the strong customer focus, products one can be proud off and the international environment guided my decision to join.
During my time with Hilti, I lead the global rollout of our Product Data Publishing Platform, contributed to the Champion 2020 Workplace Strategy and the Hilti Software Operations Strategy as well as our Hana Enterprise Cloud initiative. Since mid-2015 I lead the Corporate Center of Excellence for Application Software delivering the innovative and sustainable Hilti Cloud, User Interface Design and Internet of Things environment to enable excellent digital products for Hilti customers
From 2016 until end of 2018, I work on the next highlight and took the responsibility as Program Manager to implement the S/4 HANA, Customer Engagement & Commerce solutions, BW/4HANA, IoT and Applications on SAP Cloud Platform at Hilti – which we call DRIVE Program and concluded successfully in November 2018.
As of 2019 I am end to end responsible for all Marketing and Sales global IT systems at Hilti used by our 20.000 Sales & Marketing colleagues. Leading a great team based in Switzerland, Germany, Malaysia, United States and France is an honour and provides many chance to learn new things.
In all my positions and projects at Hilti I had the pleasure to work with outstanding people from all over the world, with enormous amount of passion for what we do and excellent skills – this is highly motivating! When I talk to colleagues from other companies, I often realize how much Hilti trusts its people thus how much freedom to act and responsibility I have.

I joined Hilti’s Corporate Center of Excellence for Application Software as part of the company’s Global IT not so long ago. Together with our business units and market organizations, we work on the technical foundation of our global service offerings in an agile development set-up. I particularly focus on Internet of Things scenarios, reconciling customer preferences as well as technical requirements.
The opportunity to work on innovative approaches in the field of my interest was, besides the excellent reputation Hilti enjoys, just one of many reasons why I chose Hilti. I really appreciate the overall working environment including challenging tasks and projects, offering me the opportunity to apply as well as to broaden my skills while contributing to our leading-edge solutions. Although I’m with Hilti for a short time only, I experienced a highly engaged career development driven by my personal interests.
It’s a pleasure to contribute to the interdisciplinary teams where we join forces and celebrate success together. The direct customer feedback we get is a major challenge but also a valuable experience that helps us to improve our products and services immediately. During the time at University, I already came across Hilti as innovative company contacting me for research collaborations. After I finished my PhD, I was happy to join Hilti’s Research & Development team, where – after an intensive introduction phase – I was given the opportunity to run my first project. I quickly figured out that Hilti as a big international company has great of opportunities for growth. I decided to leave the research domain and take a global business process responsibility which gave me lots of insights into how a business is operated, how IT works and how you deal with customers. Being responsible for the worldwide customer complaint handling process, I travelled very often and had access to Hilti’s organizations around the world.
I accepted then the offer to manage one of the biggest projects at that time, the implementation of our new Enterprise Resource Planning System in Italy. During this one-year I deepened my knowledge of the business and learned also a lot about the Italian culture. As part of the Global IT, I lead a great team responsible for all IT applications supporting our Engineering departments worldwide. I went “back to the roots”, closer to R&D, and at the same time had a completely new experience of leading a team of highly skilled IT experts. In my current position, I took over the Project Management Office and supported its transformation into a Governance Team in Global IT including topics as Controlling, IT Security, SAP Release Management, Business Process Governance and Project Management. As part of this role I had, again, a great chance and run one of our big strategy projects with lots of exposure to Hilti’s senior management.

I joined Hilti ten years ago, straight after graduating from university. I’d known Hilti tools since I was a little boy, so I was motivated to join the company because I knew the name; this was a strong and trusted brand.
As Hilti is a direct sales company, there’s no better way to experience and understand the business model than by working in sales. It’s how you get to know our customers – the core of our company.
I spent eight years in a variety of different sales positions before taking the opportunity to join our new global digital unit in Kaufering. Our role is to combine the strengths of our physical direct sales model with new opportunities through digital channels and touchpoints.
I wouldn’t say I was destined to be in this role, but the opportunity came at the right time, while my development path was such that my skills and performance made a match. Development at Hilti is flexible like that, so you’ll get the right job according to your personal skills and strengths.
You could say there are similarities between my development path and Hilti's business model: long-term sustainable growth. This, along with Hilti’s great people, is what’s helped me become one of the most successful sales managers in Germany. The ‘long-term’ ethos also helps me with my current challenge of implementing digital strategy across the company.
It’s a global position, so I’m working with people from around the world, all on different projects. Aside from the opportunity to travel, it means I’m able to experience the wonderful diversity of our company. At the end of the day, it's the people I work with who make me look forward to going to the office.
