Career history at Hilti
The key reason for choosing Hilti was to work in a collaborative environment with talented people. I really wanted to develop alongside other people. The culture at Hilti overall is great, and within the Fire Protection Design Team it is better than I could have hoped for. This really set the stage for focusing on how I could contribute. Hilti has given me a lot of trust and opened the door for me to be creative and bold. The experience has been great.
Hilti is special due to the values. It may not always be possible to fulfil the words or slogans used, but those phrases act like a compass that everyone can re-align towards.
For me, Fire protection was a career path I had been on for six years prior to Hilti. Hilti firestop allowed me the opportunity gain a deep understanding of passive fire protection, the only element I did not have experience with before. To anyone looking at the fire and life safety field, I would emphasize that it has many challenging avenues to explore, and each avenue will provide a deep sense of meaning for the work.
Career development needed initiative on my part in order to open opportunities. I am happy to have found my way.
Career history at Hilti
Back in 2005, a university friend was working for Hilti, sang its praises and put me in touch. I was still studying for my PhD when they invited me for interview and offered me a job. The fascinating mix of tasks, the fantastic development opportunities and the outstanding corporate culture convinced me to say yes!
I joined the company as a simulation engineer and, after a very short time, took lead responsibility for a technology project. Two years later, I was asked to head up the computational engineering team, which sits in R&D.
I was given a lot of trust to manage a range of operational, strategic and HR tasks, and with this trust came the freedom to act and make decisions. Since then, I’ve been managing the team responsible for rotary tool development, which is a completely new challenge for me and a great chance to shape a totally different area.
For me, Hilti is a blend of big challenge and big reward. It demands a lot from each of us while, at the same time, offering excellent paths for our personal development.
